Hi all,
I will probably end up using Doodle more than anything else. Again, I'm thinking in terms of communicating with the teen group.
If you have not checked out the Automatic Flatterer, you must. Trust me, it will make your day.

Delicious...a bit more time needed
I'm a clutter free freak. In other words, I need to have things very simple and pared down to the basics. I'm looking forward to using delicious for this reason. However, I now have the double the book mark stuff on my browser. I would like to figure out how to get rid of the old bookmark list....or maybe it doesn't matter. I just won't look at it!
Anyway, I love the cloud labels and could see us using this as a way to access our programs on the front page of the website. It might help me see which programs people are looking for! Will also want to use it for the teens.
Since I'm a hands on visual learner, its going to take some time for me to play around with it and brainstorm its possible uses.

Meebo yes, Meebo no
I have registered with Meebo, but need to find out how to embed my meebome on a webpage. I actually have a webpage on SparkPeople, a health and fitness site that I would love to be able to put it on. Just not sure if it will allow me to do this.
I would like to use meebo to communicate with our teen group, but will need to work with someone on the best way to do this.
Ahhh, future projects!

It's a WRAP!
Loved the first semester of this adventure! I can't say there was a particular favorite week. I appreciated the social network introduction, though, and am looking forward to exploring them in greater detail. I loved the last Michael Wesch video and am looking forward to sharing much of the Adventures in Technology with my mom and husband....two newbies to the whole technology thing. I have some ideas on ways to use some of the tools.....just used Flickr to send photos to one of our Storywagon performers, and am using a Wiki with Pat E. to communicate with other community members on an upcoming project with Hispanic Roundtable. I hope to offer our program attendees a way to comment on our programs via our website and blog; and, as our teen leadership group becomes more firmly established, we'll be exploring ways to use some of these tools together.
Incentive? A flash drive, please. Thanks!

Library Thing
Here's the link to my Library Thing. Again, the only problem I have with all these wondrous social sites is that I have no time to spend on them.

Facebook and MySpace
Trying to get through as many of the AIT trainings as I can before the weekend. You can visit my social networking sites if you want to, but they're nothing to look at! Besides, I can't seem to post a link. When I do, it never takes me to where I want to go. Sorry!
Flickr
Flickr's cool and I'm glad I can get some of these photos off my computer. Question, though....since I'll be uploading pictures from our more highly attended children's programs, is it necessary for me to get permission from EVERYONE? This could be a nuisance. Any way to get around it?
Adventure Postponed
So, it became necessary for me to postpone my Adventures in Technology because programming life at the library has been nuts. I'm back though and am currently working on Photosharing. First cool thing about Flickr...I discovered a photo sharing group called, The Library. They take discarded hardcover books, rip out the pages, and create artwork on one side of the inside cover. Then they swap the books with someone and that person finishes the other side. This is going to be my next TeenSpace event! Lots of our teen patrons who are in the leadership group are big into art. This project will be right up there alley. It will make an awesome display!

Wiki...woo, woo!
I did always wonder what the heck a wiki was. I've used wikipedia for information gathering, but never really knew what made it a wiki or how it could benefit me.
I'm looking forward to forming one of these for our TeenSpace leadership group, I think.
I also see how this could help me avoid having to be in "team" meetings all the time. We might be able to coordinate our team efforts via a wiki.
So...woo, woo!...for wiki's.
...oh, and when looking up Rochester in Racine County....RPL is not an external link.

Google Calendars saved me from losing my mind
Have you EVER had to try to maintain more than one physical calendar? In my insane life I had 4: personal home calendar, kids' activities calendar, traveling calendar (was supposed to have everything in it), and work calendar ( I do programming for crying out loud!).
Needless to say, I would wake in a cold sweat every night wondering if I had forgotten to enter something somewhere...and I inevitably had.
I was a neurotic mess.
Then Google calendars entered my life. I am able to have all of my calendars in one spot and share them with my family, friends and coworkers. I can also access them from any computer. Hallelujah!!!!!
I spend about 15 minutes every morning updating and checking all the calendars and then breath easier and more stress free for the rest of the day. I can also print them off and take them with me if I need to .

Google Docs - my friends love me
I've played around with Google Docs for about 3 months now. As with most new applications, I prefer to try things out and read instructions as I need them. So, I'm sure I still have a lot to learn about how this can help me and about how it works. I've yet to run into any insurmountable roadblocks.
With all the community collaborative work I do I've found Google docs to be invaluable in having fliers & press releases approved in a timely manner.
And my on-line friends love me. I'm no longer sending files that eat up their email space and take an hour to download.

RSS Opened New Doors!
This week's Adventures in Technology has opened some new doors for me. I've often been frustrated with trying to keep up with the many marketing & pr sites that people suggest I read. I just don't have time to go through them all. Google Reader and my subscriptions now allow me to do a quick glance to see if there's anything of import.
It's also allowing me to keep up with some of my family's blog entries. Their posts are often few and far between.
I had no idea this was available...thanks!

The Adventure Begins
Well, creating this was relatively painless. Now that I've created my blog, the trick will be to find the time to create posts. Maybe "Adventures in Technology" is the impetus I needed to start writing on a regular basis. Thanks for the gentle push.
